Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026
Everything4Cats is a product review site published from Canada at everything4cats.ca. This policy explains what the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
This site has no accounts, no comments, no contact forms and no shopping cart. It does not sell anything and it does not collect your email address. The only thing it measures is anonymous traffic statistics, and only if you agree to that first.
Who is responsible
Everything4Cats is operated by an individual publisher in Canada.
Questions, requests, or complaints: hello@everything4cats.ca
What is collected
Analytics, only with your consent
If you accept statistics in the consent banner, this site loads Google Analytics 4, which records anonymous information about your visit: which pages you read, roughly how long you stayed, the country you connected from, the type of device and browser you used, and the site or search engine that referred you.
Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. The data cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
If you decline, or if you never answer, nothing is loaded and nothing is recorded. The analytics script is held back by the consent system and is not downloaded until you agree.
This site also honours the Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. If your browser sends either, you are treated as having declined, and you are not measured even if you never see the banner.
Server logs
Like every web server, this site’s host records technical details of each request: the IP address, the time, the page requested, and the browser’s identifying string. These logs exist to keep the site running and to detect abuse such as repeated failed login attempts. They are not used to build a profile of you, are not linked to analytics, and are not shared.
Cookies
The site sets a small number of cookies. None of them are advertising cookies.
| Purpose | Set by | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Consent preference | Complianz | Remembers your answer to the banner so it stops asking |
| Security | Limit Login Attempts Reloaded | Detects repeated failed logins |
| Page caching | WP Super Cache | Serves pages faster |
| Analytics | Google Analytics 4 | Only after you accept statistics |
The full technical listing is in the Cookie Policy.
What is not collected
To be explicit, because the absence is the point:
- No accounts. There is nothing to register for.
- No comments. Commenting is disabled and the spam filter that would process comments has been removed.
- No contact or subscription forms. No form on this site sends data anywhere.
- No payments. Nothing is sold here, so no payment or address information is ever handled.
- No advertising or retargeting. There are no ad networks and no tracking pixels.
Affiliate links
Some links to products are affiliate links, and are marked as such on the page that contains them. If you follow one and buy something, this site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Following an affiliate link takes you to another company’s website, such as a retailer. What that company collects is governed by their privacy policy, not this one. This site does not receive your name, address, payment details, or anything else about what you buy. It receives, at most, an anonymous record that a sale occurred.
Commissions never determine which products are covered or what is said about them.
Who the data is shared with
Google (Google Analytics 4) is the only third party that receives data about your visit, and only with your consent. Google’s Data Processing Terms have been accepted for this property, and the setting permitting Google to use this data for its own other services has been switched off.
The site’s hosting, backup and email infrastructure providers process data only as necessary to run the site:
- Amazon Web Services, which hosts the site and delivers its outgoing email
- Google Drive, which stores backups of the site
No data is ever sold, and none is shared for advertising.
Where data goes
Analytics data is processed by Google, which operates servers internationally, including in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this transfer happens under the safeguards in Google’s Data Processing Terms. If you would rather this did not happen at all, decline statistics in the consent banner and no data is sent.
How long it is kept
- Analytics: retained by Google for the period configured in Google Analytics, after which it is deleted automatically.
- Server logs: rotated and deleted on a short cycle, typically within a few weeks.
- Backups: database backups retained 14 days, file backups 4 weeks, then overwritten.
Your rights
Under Canada’s PIPEDA, and under the GDPR if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may:
- ask what information is held about you
- ask for it to be corrected or deleted
- withdraw consent you previously gave
- object to processing, or ask that it be restricted
- complain to a regulator
Withdrawing analytics consent takes one click. Reopen the consent banner from the link in the site footer and change your answer. No email required.
For anything else, write to hello@everything4cats.ca. Requests are answered within 30 days. Bear in mind that because this site holds no accounts and no identifiable records, there is usually nothing held about you to retrieve.
If you are in Canada and are not satisfied with the response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
This policy will change when the site does. The most likely change is the addition of an email newsletter, which does not currently exist. If that happens, this policy will be updated to say what is collected, by which provider, and how to unsubscribe, before any signup form appears on the site.
The date at the top reflects the last revision.
